Studio Policy
TUITION
Students may enroll in one of the following lesson formats during the regular school year (September through May):
30-Minute Private Lesson: $125 per month
60-Minute Private Lesson: $250 per month
Monthly tuition reserves a student's exclusive weekly lesson time in the studio schedule. Tuition is based on the total number of lessons offered throughout the school year and is divided into nine equal monthly payments. As a result, tuition remains the same each month regardless of whether a particular month contains four or five lesson weeks.
The studio observes the following scheduled breaks each school year:
Thanksgiving Break (1 week)
Christmas/New Year's Break (2 weeks)
Spring/Easter Break (1 week)
These scheduled breaks are already reflected in the monthly tuition amount.
Summer lessons (June through August) are scheduled separately and billed at the standard per-lesson rate.
PAYMENT
Monthly tuition is due before the first scheduled lesson of each month.
Payment may be made by cash, check, or approved electronic payment methods.
Students with outstanding balances may not be permitted to attend lessons until payment is received.
SCHEDULING
Students reserve a regular weekly lesson time in the studio schedule. This reserved time is held exclusively for the student and remains their lesson time unless otherwise arranged.
The studio calendar, including scheduled holidays, breaks, and other planned closures, will be distributed before the beginning of each school year.
Occasionally, the instructor may need to adjust the schedule due to performances, professional commitments, or other unforeseen circumstances. When this occurs, the instructor will communicate any changes as far in advance as possible and will provide a makeup lesson or tuition credit when appropriate.
Because lesson times are reserved specifically for each student, consistent attendance is expected. Students wishing to discontinue lessons should provide advance notice so their lesson time may be offered to another student.
ATTENDANCE AND PREPARATION
Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons, arrive on time, and come prepared to learn.
Students should bring all required books, sheet music, assignments, and other lesson materials to each lesson.
If a student arrives late, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time. Additional lesson time cannot be guaranteed.
Students who forget necessary materials may still participate in the lesson, though lesson activities may be adjusted accordingly.
PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS
Regular practice between lessons is essential for steady musical growth. Students are expected to practice consistently throughout the week and make a sincere effort to complete assigned exercises, pieces, and other lesson materials.
The amount of practice needed will vary based on age, experience, and individual goals, but daily practice is strongly encouraged. Meaningful progress is achieved through consistent effort between lessons.
MISSED LESSONS
Monthly tuition reserves a student's exclusive weekly lesson time. Because this time cannot typically be reassigned on short notice, makeup lessons are not offered for student absences, regardless of the reason.
This policy includes, but is not limited to:
Illness
School events
Sports activities
Family vacations
Scheduling conflicts
Forgotten lessons
In exceptional circumstances, the instructor may, at their sole discretion, offer a virtual lesson, alternate lesson time, or other accommodation when scheduling permits. Such accommodations are not guaranteed.
TEACHER ABSENCES
If the instructor must cancel a lesson, one of the following will be provided:
A makeup lesson at a mutually agreeable time, or
A tuition credit equal to the value of the missed lesson, applied to a future month's tuition.
Students will not lose instruction due to teacher cancellations.
WEATHER AND EMERGENCIES
Lessons canceled by the instructor due to severe weather, emergency, or other unforeseen circumstances will be rescheduled or credited.
Lessons canceled by the student due to weather concerns are considered student absences and are not eligible for makeup lessons.
DISCONTINUING LESSONS
Students wishing to discontinue lessons must provide at least 30 days' written notice.
Tuition already paid is non-refundable except when a tuition credit is issued under the Teacher Absences policy.
By enrolling in lessons, students and parents acknowledge that they have read and agree to these studio policies.
